The Capilano Students’ Union (CSU) is bringing a new energy to student life at Capilano University. The 2017/18 academic year promises to be one of the best yet, with huge events, exciting student engagement and opportunities to make new friends and memories on campus.

Sept. 14 will be a day to remember at CapU. The CSU is throwing its biggest party ever in the heart of the campus in the Cedar courtyard. The CSU, in partnership with Blueprint (who produces some of Canada’s biggest concerts including FVDED In The Park and Seasons Festival) present Captivate, an afternoon of exciting local DJs, a beer garden, food trucks, games, activities, and prizes to be won. The event takes place from noon to 7 p.m. and is free to all students.

On Aug. 31, the CSU will be joining the international orientation hosted by the Centre for International Experience (CIE). The CSU is passionate about giving new students at CapU the best orientation. We will be participating in the CIE’s scavenger hunt and giving away swag and information on CSU services and programs.

On Sept. 1, the CSU will be greeting students living in Capilano University’s first-ever residences. The CSU will be on-site on move-in day to show support and inform students about the special services available to them. We will also be handing out welcome packages and promoting campaigns to ensure a fun, safe and responsible environment for residents.

We’ll also be joining the Capilano University Street Party (CUSP) on Sept. 5, offering new and returning students swag, prizes, and information on how to get involved with their student union.

Students can save money by purchasing their textbooks for 70% of the new price at the CSU’s used book sale, happening Aug. 30 to Sept. 22. Eighty-five per cent of proceeds from the used book sale go back to Capilano students just like you, helping ease the financial burden on students.
