Capilano University is hosting the 2016 PACWEST Basketball Provincial Championships beginning this Thursday, March 3 at 1 p.m. in the Sportsplex.

Both Capilano University Blues men’s and women’s basketball teams will feature in the upcoming tournament.

On the women’s side, the Blues—who finished in third place in the PACWEST with a 15-6 record—will face the Camosun Chargers (7-14) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 3. Fifth-year guard Michelle Errico leads the Blues in scoring, averaging 14.14 points per game, and third-year forward Carmel M’Bikata leads the team in rebounding, with 6.95 rebounds per game.

The Cap U Blues men’s basketball team enters the tournament as the fourth seed with a record of 11-10 and will play the fifth seed, Douglas College Royals (10-11) at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 3. Second-year guard Martin Bogajev led the entire PACWEST in scoring this year, averaging 21.83 points per game.

All games will be played at the Sportsplex at 1, 3, 6 and 8 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, March 5, the bronze medal games are set for 12:30 p.m. (women) and 3 p.m. (men); with the championship games set for 5:30 p.m. (women) and 8 p.m. (men).
