Students in Capilano U’s Illustration/Design: Elements & Applications (IDEA) and  Interactive Design programs had an impressive showing at the B.C. chapter of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada’s Salazar Awards on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. The Salazars are open to students from all design-related programs in the Lower Mainland. Students may submit work in four categories: brand identity, print, interactive and video & motion.

The winners, who received $500 scholarships, are:

Brand Identity category:
Camille Segur, IDEA program, Capilano University

Print category:
Alex Harvey-Wickens, IDEA program, Capilano University

Interactive category:
Joan Gurney, Interactive Design and IDEA program, Capilano University

Video & Motion category:
Christopher Hetherington, Emily Carr University

According to the GDC executive, a record number of entries were received this year. While IDEA students have been entering this competition for years, this is the first time students from Cap’s Interactive Design program submitted entries. Of the seven finalists, four were from Capilano U. Nine of the 14 who received honourable mention were from Cap.

Congratulations to all!
