Are you an alumna or alumnus of Capilano University? Now’s a good time to reconnect with your alma mater. The University will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018 and is looking to re-establish communication with alumni who’ve lost touch.
“We’re planning some exciting homecoming events for 2018, and want to make sure that all of our alumni are invited,” says Scott Blythe, Capilano’s director of alumni and development.
There are other advantages of getting in touch—from reconnecting with former classmates and networking opportunities for career advancement to alumni discounts and recognition at Cap’s Alumni Awards of Excellence. Capilano’s Alumni Association offers many ways to get involved and give back through volunteer work, student mentorship and more.
Who qualifies as alumni? Anyone who completed 12 credits or more since 1968 is considered a member of Capilano University’s alumni.

What’s new at Capilano U?
The University has come a long way since 1968, when it began as a college with 784 students in classes held after hours at West Vancouver Secondary School.
Today, the University’s campuses in North Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast welcome more than 8,295 students in credit programs each year, including 1,133 international students from 74 countries. Despite the growth in size, a welcoming atmosphere and tight-knit community remains. Small interactive classes, instructors with real-world experience, and a focus on hands-on, experiential learning are core characteristics that differentiate Capilano University from other post-secondary institutions.
If you visit the University’s campuses today, you’ll see some exciting changes. The University recently launched a new logo and brand that honours the past, celebrates the present and supports the University’s vision for the future.
